[mp3] Dave Navarro approves of Parlour Bells' "Classic Girl" cover; 10.29 @ Radio
Well this should make up for not being able to play the Faces Nightclub Demolition party last week (sorry we missed it, Cambridge, how'd it all go down? Did you love it? Any bodies turn up?). At the end of the day, who needs an old disco funeral on a rainy day on Route 2 when you got Dave Navarro applauding your musical echoes.
A few days after PARLOUR BELLS unveiled a cover of Jane's Addiction's spirited 1989 ballad "Classic Girl," Navarro took to Twitter earlier today to issue online props for the stripped-down re-do and plug their Bandcamp link.

To quote Larry David, this is "pret-tay, pret-tay, cool." Each year a fuckton of Boston bands do the Halloween cover show thing all over town, but few get direct acknowledgement from the ol' famous heroes being honored. Of course, it helps to release a track in advance and not wait for the Rock And Roll Senior Center to log in to YouTube on November 2.
It also helps to have an already rad track done up quite nicely for a re-spin. "It's pretty spare, but ghostly, and we tried to keep it honest," Glenn DiBenedetto told the Phoenix earlier this week. He sang the track
while guitarist Nate Leavitt played the role of Dave (minus the nail polish and guyliner, probably).
Grab the mp3 above or check out the Soundcloud stream below, and be sure to catch the live version tomorrow night at Radio (Saturday 10.29.11), when Parlour Bells take on Janes, Whores At the Door (members of The Acre, Big East, Blackbutton) do the Pixies, OldJack hurries up and waits as Stereophonics, Limbless Lovers bats off as Siouxsie and the Banshees, and the Dahkness (members of Big East, Forest Henderson, Backup Factor, Big Sway, Beat Surrender and everyone to ever play music in Somerville, apparently) do their collabo effort as the Darkness.
