IWRESTLEDABEARONCE go black metal
It has been a banner week for fans of black metal! Yesterday, Vegan Black Metal Chef blew up like Varg Vikernes' temper, getting love in the NME, dominating our WFNX Breakshow Show discussion, and continuing its rapid march toward one million hits on YouTube.
Today, in fact just moments ago, Southern metal band and staunch defenders of the MySpace-as-a-band-website model IWRESTLEDABEARONCE have announced a carefully-crafted musical shift to a more darker, more menacing sound. It arrives just in time for the debut of a new song, which premieres Thursday on metalsucks.net. First Kingsley Flood disses us for NPR, now this. Why no MP3 of the Week in the Phoenix, dudes?!
Guitarist Steven Bradley breaks down the new sound:
“We were sick of getting lumped in with ‘scene’ and ‘whatever-core’ bands, so we decided to embrace our roots and just go straight black metal on the new album,” says Bradley. “I'd say 90% of the new record is straight-up black metal, so we had to change our image to match ...because of course that's just as important, if not more so, than the music.”
They even have a dope scary new logo:
Currently touring in Europe, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE play the Bay State Metal Fest on Aug. 6 at the Central Mass Expo Center in Fitchburg. Get ur corpse paint ready!
