Snow day present: New Passion Pit song
UPDATE: Tweets just in, from Michael Angelakos @mangelakos : The track I did for AMEX has nothing at all to do with Christmas but, hey, if you'd like it to be, happy holidays... It's also solely for American Express. I made it for their use only. Won't be on the album, which will not sound like that either, FYI.

Snow day, sick day, whatever day -- it looks like it took a storm putting the city of Boston on shutdown for everyone to realize there's a new Passion Pit track, "All These Trees," making the interweb rounds. Apparently the track, released last week a few days before Christmas, is a part of a holiday campaign from American Express ZYNC, the biz that footed the bill for Passion Pit's free Royale show over the summer. Passion Pit and AmEx, you may recall, hooked up in July for the commercial snippet "Blank Canvases."
The ZYNC package also includes new instrumental tracks from Andrew Bird and Antlers, but here we get vocals from Michael Angelakos. The tracks can be downloaded via ZYNC's Facebook page.
We may still be drunk on Pomplamoose uber-cheer, but "All These Trees" screams "holiday jingle" with its seasonal bells and pixie-dust spirit. Then again, it's is totally Passion Pit, so it may or may not completely be a sign of things to come. But as we anxiously await the band's follow-up to 2009's Manners, due to drop sometime in 2k11, we'll take this as a last-minute present. Now we know how Ralphie from A Christmas Story felt after finding his Red Ryder BB gun long after all the other gifts were unwrapped.
