A dozen fresh faces on Boston's music scene
BLACK LIGHT DINNER PARTYCLASS OF 2012 TRACK •"GOLD CHAIN" [Listen] [Download]
It's time for the mysterious Black Light Dinner Party to rise up from the darkness and shine bright. An electronic-minded collective of four seasoned producers — who wish to remain anonymous, for now — the Boston-bred crew is three-for-three in dynamite, it-might-break-Hype-Machine singles. BLDP first surfaced in January 2010 with the elegant butterfly-synth purr of "Older Together," then laid low for 18 months until dropping electro-pop dragonfly "Small Boxes" in July. In November they completed their singles trifecta with funk-laden post-disco playground jam "Gold Chain" (porn legend Ron Jeremy made a cameo in the video), a sparkly nugget that suggests the debut album set for 2012 is going to send them global. Or at least reveal who they actually are.
