All right, sorority girls and sleepover fiends, get those pillows fluffed and ready. April 4 is the second annual World Pillow Fight Day, and God knows there are plenty of Bostonians who could use a good whomp in the face. Local imps/organizers Banditos Misteriosos — who make it their mission to promote "selective immaturity" — are coordinating the local edition of this international phenomenon of spontaneous play. Although places like Kabul, where fun lovers are more concerned with flying bullets than with flying feathers, are sitting this one out, 22 international cities — including Budapest, Cape Town, Stockholm, Caracas, and London — are joining the fray this year. So far, more than 1500 people are RSVP'd via Facebook to attend in Boston alone. That's a whole lotta goose down. Sorry, vegans. And geese. There are, of course, rules and regulations, because it's all fun and games until someone brings a melodramatic lawsuit. Soft pillows are the preferred playthings/weapons, and puffy warriors are cautioned to use them only on people who are also armed with pillows. No sneak attacks on pedestrians, please, and make an effort to leave the city exactly as you found it — clean up after yourself, naughty. (The Banditos are actively seeking volunteers for this chore; tidy types are encouraged to sign up for clean-up at contact@misteriosos.org.)
The location of Boston's 3 pm public pillow fight will remain a secret until 12:01 am on the big day. Visit the Banditos Misteriosos Web site for the time, place, and other event details.
